It’s the same old song. Jack Schofield has the patience of a saint. Who would have thought that, in 2013, he would still be helping desperate people to prove that software they paid for is “GENUINE”. Well, it is Windows 7, so there must be pain. Genuine pain. These absurd measures to avoid piracy are thrown into stark relief by the decline and fall of Windows. The best protected OS in the world may soon be the least mourned. Anyone who has used any other computer environment (hello, iPad!) must find this dreadful behaviour extremely off-putting. Must be a factor in the move to simple computing. Hi foot, meet gun. Gun, foot. Bang.
I hope I never, ever have to activate a copy of Windows again. Getting more likely by the day.
