On Monday (and again on Tuesday) I received a formulaic solicitation to enjoy a Eureka conference in Boston. Today I got a similar email for a different conference, which might be a follow up to the Dubai boondoggle that I posted about before. These messages are flagged as spam by our email server.

The invite is careful to assuage the doubts of skeptics who may question the quality of these meetings. Several (or “a number” of) Nobel laureates have expressed interest in (read: have been emailed about) giving lectures. They can’t be named, well because they aren’t going to come. Eureka has “several years of experience hosting international conferences”.

DDTWC 2013 will be held in Boston in June. The 2nd WBTC is just coming up. I’m not certain that these conferences are in the same league as the meetings reported here and here and here. And I can’t claim to understand the motivation of the organisers. But their desperation speaks volumes.
